Who are you? Hi my name is Ludwig Gross, and I am a photographer from Munich, Germany. Beside music I do lots of sports photography, and I work for one of the biggest photo magazines in Germany as an editor and photographer.
How did you get started? I was always a dream to combine two of my favourite hobbies – music and photography. While living in Toronto in 2011, I started applying for photopasses to get into shows for free – mostly bands I listen to. And Quickly I got chances to shoot bigger and bigger shows.
What’s in the bag?
- 2x Canon EOS 5D Mark3
- Canon 24-70/2.8mm lens
- Canon 70-200/2.8mm lens
- Canon 8-15mm fisheye lens
- Blackrapid straps
Which photographers do you admire? There are to many inspiring photographers out there. Just to name two of them: David Drebin (one of the best photographers) and Adam Elmakias (in my eyes, he’s the best music photographer around)
Your top 3 tips for music photographers?
- Use ear-plugs
- bring your fisheye lens
- enjoy the show
My favourite shot is? The Bouncing Souls, taken at the Rockfest 2011 in Montebello, Quebec, Canada. It was just a fun show to shoot with one of my favourite bands – and without any time restrictions (no three songs limitation).
- Canon EOS 7D
