Who are you? Hej, my name is Sebastian Patter and I´m a freelance photographer from Austria. My pictures get published via EXPA Pictures, APA-Picturedesk & Getty Images. I´m also covering events for a venue in my hometown.
How did you get started? My cousin played in a band and I wanted to photograph their first gig back in 2010. I grabbed my recently bought 400D and went to the gig. I had no clue how to use this camera, so I went for full-auto and fired the very last bit of power out of my speedlight. 🙂
Of course the pictures sucked and from that point on I started to read a lot of ‘how-tos’. Jared Polin (froknowsphoto.com) helped me a lot!
What’s in the bag? 5D Mark II, 5D Mark III, 16-35 2.8, 24-70 2.8, 70-200 2.8, 50 1.4
Which photographers do you admire?
- Todd Owyoung (http://ishootshows.com)
- Adam Elmakias (http://adamelmakias.com)
- Javier Bragado (http://www.javierbragado.com)
There are so many brilliant music photographers out there, but that are the 3 I stalk the most 😉
Your top 3 tips for music photographers?
- shoot RAW!
- leave your speedlight at home!
- wear ear plugs!
My favourite shot is? Well, I don´t really have THAT favourite shot, but I think it´s a picture of Skunk Anansie I shot 2011. It was the first picture that got published and I was kinda proud of it 🙂
